Bioconstruction and Bioerosion in the Northern Adriatic Coralligenous Reefs Quantified by X-Ray Computed Tomography

چکیده
The northern Adriatic continental shelf hosts several coralligenous reefs rising from the sedimentary bottom and characterized by three main benthic assemblages, respectively, dominated algal turfs, encrusting calcareous rhodophyte (ECRs) or erect sponges. Bioconstruction bioerosion processes have been investigated using recruitment travertine limestone tiles deployed in a random site for each assemblages off Chioggia, 6.1–14.4 km offshore 20.2–25.4 m depth. Tiles were retrieved after 3 12 years analyzed X-ray computed tomography (CT), allowing non-destructively identifying quantifying deposited eroded limestone. builders ECRs, serpulids, bryozoans, barnacles, bivalves Anomia ephippium , while most effective borers sponges genus Cliona bivalve Rocellaria dubia . deposition of was greater at MR08 ECRs (12.52 ± 2.22 kg –2 ), intermediate P213 (4.20 1.24 lower P204 turfs (2.20 0.72 ). Impact of Photon Spectra on the Sensitivity of Polymer Gel Dosimetry by X-Ray Computed Tomography
Introduction: The purpose of the current study was to investigate the effect of X-ray spectra on the sensitivity of a polymer gel dosimeter imaged with a conventional computed tomography (CT) scanner. Material and Methods: The whole process of CT imaging of an irradiated polymer gel was simulated by MCNPX Monte Carlo (MC) code. The imaging of polyacrylamide gel was accomplished by means of a co...

X-ray computed tomography (CT), introduced into clinical practice in 1972, was the first of the modern slice-imaging modalities. To reconstruct images mathematically from measured data and to display and to archive them in digital form was a novelty then and is commonplace today. CT has shown a steady upward trend with respect to technology, performance and clinical use independent of predictio...
متن کاملAn iterative method to estimate x-ray attenuation coefficients in computed tomography
Introduction: The basis of image formation in Computed Tomography (CT) lies in the x-ray linear attenuation coefficient of the scanned material. Compton scattering and photoelectric effect are the dominant interactions of the x-ray photons with the subject, in the range of diagnostic radiology. These two coefficients are important in tissue characterization by Dual-Energy CT (D...

Micro-computed tomography (μCT) has been successfully used to study the cardiovascular system of mouse embryos in situ. With the use of barium as a suitablecontrast agent, blood vessels have beenimaged and analysed quantitatively such asblood volume and vessel sizes on embryosof ages 14.5 to 16.5 days old. The advantageof using this imaging modality is that it hasprovide...
متن کاملAdaptive zooming in X-ray computed tomography.
BACKGROUND In computed tomography (CT), the source-detector system commonly rotates around the object in a circular trajectory. Such a trajectory does not allow to exploit a detector fully when scanning elongated objects. OBJECTIVE Increase the spatial resolution of the reconstructed image by optimal zooming during scanning. METHODS A new approach is proposed, in which the full width of the...
